| Short Description of the Institution: Initiated by the Hungarian National Fine Arts Association, Műcsarnok was founded on the model of the German Kunsthalles which were patronized both by the artists and the bourgeoisie. The present exhibition space on the Heroes Square was built in 1896 on the occasion of the Hungarian State Millennial Celebrations. Műcsarnok, an institute without collection, represents the recent trends and tendencies of the global contemporary art scene and shows in solo and group exhibitions. |
